Alcatraz Körung: Elmshorn 1988. HLP Champion: Medingen 1988, a record setting 141.93 (1st of 73) overall, 134.80 (2nd) in dressage, 136.02 (3rd) in jumping... He received a 10 in jumping with rider and a 9.5 in free jumping, a 9 in rideability, his lowest score was 7.67. His first year at stud was 1988. Alcatraz has had a brilliant stud career from the start. With the success of his offspring, due to his versatile hereditary transmission (116 mares and 5 stallion sons), he achieved the FN rating of 1st in his age group. He has continued to rank high in the FN breeding value ratings.

Offspring from Alcatraz include the approved stallions Aurelio I & II, Alcazaro, Arnstein E, Argent and Akinos (1993 stallion approvals champion Schleswig-Holstein), at least 15 state premium mares (many of whom excelled at their performance tests), many successful competitiors, from conformation class winners and series winners of showjumper classes to international showjumpers including Achille Laura, Alcamo 2 (Andreas Viebrock), Alcazaro, Aurelio II, Apia and Ashley 38. The daughters Daisy (Hauke Luther) and Dana were successful competitors in the Federal Championships for show-jumpers. Alcatraz has also produced successful dressage competitiors including Attention (Petra Wilm) and Amidou (under Dr. Ulf Möller in the World Championships of young Dressage Horses, Verden 2004)... “Alcatraz has 354 registered sporthorses in Germany, including at least 4 S-Class dressage horses and 28 S-Class showjumpers. His offspring had 460 S-Dressage victories and placements in the year 2000. There is also the notable mare Agatha C in Sweden...”

Alcatraz was counted (breeding values) among the 34 Top Sires for Holsteiner in 2003.

Alcatraz ranks high in the USEF Best Sires lists. Of the hundreds of sporthorse sires annually, he ranked in 2005 #8 for hunters, #30 for jumpers, in 2006 #5 for hunters, in 2007 #9 for hunters, in 2008 #15 for hunters, #33 for jumpers.

Aloubé Z / Ronald / Anblick xx

Alcatraz represents, as inherited from his sire Aloube Z, the very successful combination of the very best French blood from the world famous Alme Z and some of the best Hanoverian jumping genes from the great stallion Gotthard. He also brings the influence one of Holstein's most successful mare lines, Stamm 242, as well as the combination of Ronald, Anblick xx, and Loretto from his dam's side.

Sire: Aloubé Z of the famous breeding program at the Gestüt Zangersheide in Belgium. He began his stud career in Bavaria, then was leased for 2 years to Holstein. In 1990, although he had only a few offspring, he ranked 15th of the Jumping Sires of his age group. He has won jumping tests up to Class S. “Enormous jumping ability, good with front end... Passed his jumping ability on to all his offspring.”

Dam: SPS Nirza was an extraordinarily successful breeding mare in Holstein. Her offspring, in order, were: SPS Catania 14 (placed 5th at the German Jumping Horse Championships, Ostenfelde 1986), Calystos (sold at the Elite auction in Neumünster), Calypso 126 (very successful at Class S Jumping in 1990), Alcatraz (her 4th foal), Armanda (a breeding mare), her next four foals had not yet begun their careers but had all been awarded Premium Foal status. (as of 1989 ?)

Dam's dam: Ulana also produced the Holstein stallions Colt (prepotent sire of some very good jumping horses) and Joost (very successful sporthorse as well as an influential sire in the Netherlands).

Dam's dam's dam: Diastolchen Stamm 242, also produced the Stallions Anklang and Laertes. Stamm 242 is known for producing excellent performance horses and the Diastolchen branch of Stamm 242 has so far produced over 28 approved stallions.

Dam's sire: Ronald, a well known stallion in Holstein, son of the great Ramiro. Ronald, among other things, sired numerous high class jumpers and the stallions Ricardo and Rocadero.

Dam's dam's sire: Anblick xx stood in Hannover for 8 years, until age 16, then stood in Holstein from 1953-1964. He was the first Improvement sire used by Holstein after WWII, and was very successful and important in upgrading their horse populations. He produced many excellent eventing and dressage horses, including the Olympic medal winners Antoinette (Josef Neckermann) and Venetia (Josef Neckermann). His best son was the famous stallion Aldato. “His main influence on modern showjumping pedigrees is through some daughters and granddaughters.”



Approved for Holsteiner in Germany, ASVH in Sweden... was licensed for AHHA in USA 2001.
