zebra longwing
The Zebra Longwing (Heliconius charithonius), Florida's state butterfly, is unusual because the adults can digest pollen as well as nectar and for their exceptionally long lifespan (3+ months). And the Firebush (Hamelia patens) is notable, not only for being very popular with hummingbirds and butterflies, but also for the healing properties of it's leaves. It has long been used to stop bleeding, even of deep wounds, for it's anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties and for the superior healing of wounds.
